Health is a large word. It embraces not the body only, but the mind and spirit as well;
... and not today's pain or pleasure alone, but the whole being and outlook of a man.

What is Massage Therapy?
Massage Therapy is a form of hands-on therapeutic medicine encompassing the treatment, rehabilitation and augmentation of the musculoskeletal system of the body.
It uses a wide range of skillfully applied techniques designed to facilitate healing in the body. As a medical science, it employs formal scientific knowledge gained from over 150 years of medical research, in addition to a knowledge base extending thousands of years into the past, making it one of the oldest forms of medical treatment.
With a range of gentle, soothing techniques to promote relaxation, and the use of deep, precise techniques to treat specific structures, it is both a science and art, helping the body to heal itself through its own natural processes.

Process of Massage . . .
A typical treatment will begin with a brief orthopedic assessment of the muscles and joints of your body, in order to investigate any existing pathologies, and to allow the therapist to determine the most appropriate treatment for your specific needs.
You will be professionally draped for the duration of your treatment, and you may give feedback at any time throughout.
The therapist will typically begin with mild compressions and fascial techniques to treat the connective tissues of the body, proceeding to muscle and tendon release work. Light, soothing techniques will follow, promoting relaxation and increasing circulation. Deeper tissue work is used to treat specific muscles and structures, while gentle mobilization of the joints may be used to increase movement and nourishment of the joints.
The treatment will conclude with gentle techniques, leaving you relaxed and refreshed.

As a client of massage therapy, you are taking a valuable step towards your health. With each treatment, you will be provided home-care recommendations and exercises to enhance your progress.
Our body is a machine for living. It is organized for that, it is its nature. Let life go on in it unhindered
and let it defend itself, it will do more than if you paralyze it by encumbering it with remedies.
